Paneer Bhurji










  • 200 gms paneer, crumbled (cottage cheese)
  • 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
  • 2  tbsp  tomato puree
  • 1 or 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  •  1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chilly powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala powder
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • a few coriander leaves for garnishing


  • Crumble the paneer and keep aside
  • Heat oil  in a pan.add cumin seeds , once they get browned, add onions. When the onions become translucent, add ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chilies.
  • Saute for 30 sec.then add tomato puree and cook  for 2 min.
  • Now add all the dry spice powders – turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala powder.
  • Stir the spice powders.
  • Then, add the crumbled paneer and let it cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Don’t cook the paneer for a long time as they harden and loose their softness.
  • Add chopped coriander leaves to paneer bhurji and mix.
  • Serve paneer bhurji  with rotis, plain paranthas or as a side dish
